His name is Jin and he's in 3rd grade. His English is decent, he's friendly, and apparently a bit brave. He introduced himself to me while I was awkwardly fumbling with a washing machine, asked questions about me and if I wanted some coffee. Later he brought me a laundry basket filled with hangers and showed me where the clothes lines were. He hung around for a bit and asked if I could drive him to the 7-11 so we could grab food, saying I could use either his grandmother's moped or car. I believed he got the okay, but my head was filled with visions of me killing us both somehow on the superhighway making the simplest of maneuvers. Instead I gave him a list of things for him to pick up for me if he went with his grandmother, I drew lil pictures of everything in case he couldn't read it but he had no problem. They did go and he did a great job.
I then metup with Jeremy around 12:40. I remember the time so precisely because I had a helluva time getting to her. I left at 11:30 walked for FORTY MINUTES before a single cab picked me up. Sungtows (phonetic), tuk-tuks, and cabs were full and few were around. Boring story short, I got there.
I spent a few hours with Jeremy, her boyfriend Brian, and her two friends Moses and Alex. Everyone but Alex had worked at the school. We rode bikes around the city and Jeremy showed me a few points of interest like where to buy certain things and when. She also showed me the place I'll be moving into and sweet jesus it's nice.
At least the fence was.
The place was enveloped in a 10 foot high, mahogany-like fence with greenery growing even higher. I couldn't see beyond it. But if that's the gate, the housing mustn't be too shabby.
On our way back the moped we were on ran out of gas and a pain in the ass ensued.
Even though we only met for a few hours, it was a successful introduction to each other and to the city.
I'm meeting with Rob again tomorrow for some doings. One of which is too (I think) look into acquiring me transport. Indeed.
I'll be linking picture albums soon, maybe within the hour if things...work.
Ah and Billy, I just ate half a lil chicken and it was awesome. Avian flu gave it a nice tang.
PS - There's something in this AC that's irritating the hell out of...uh...I don't know it's name but it's the spot behind the nose where air passes downward and has left me with an irritated throat as well. I think this AC hasn't been used for awhile and there's something up with it. Mmmmmnnnnnn.
Ah and I just accidentally drank a mouthful of tap water. Doh!
Here's to dying.
There weren't any dudes selling gas out of 40oz bottles? Yellow, Orange, and Red are the different grades i believe haha
